A new alpaca wool throw from Novica

I was contacted a few weeks ago by Novica, a wonderful Fair Trade company that supports and brings together artisans from all around the world...and provides them with a place where they can showcase their beautiful products and works of art! (Novica works alongside National Geographic)

They were so kind as to offer me a gift card, for the purpose of increasing awareness of their beautiful products :)

And let me tell you....it was NOT easy to choose which item to order! I had no idea they had so much to offer......seriously......they sell everything from rugs, furniture, and cushions ...to dresses, ponchos and jewelry...even a great selection of corporate gifts

And the best part.....each and every single item is made by a talented artisan from countries like Peru, Bali and West Africa.

So....now you're wondering what *did* I end up ordering, right? :)

I chose this........

A beautiful Alpaca Wool Blanket/Throw that was handmade on a small loom in Peru!

Isn't it fabulous?  LOVE it! So soft and snuggly, and the grey and white is perfect for our living room :)

You know me and the whole grey/white combo!

There's another equally gorgeous throw here, if you want to take a look on their site.

Doesn't it just make you want to snuggle up on the couch? :)

I love how it has a "story".....not just another random product that no one knows anything about. A real man and his family wove this blanket on their own loom, with wool from local Alpaca.

I hardly thought this type of commerce still existed anymore! And I didn't even have to go all the way to Cuzco, Peru to find it :)

Not that I wouldn't like a trip to Peru......just, you know....it's probably not in the works right now ;)

I'm more than happy to spread the word about a company this great :)

  2. I love it too, Tracey! What a treasure!! I really like that its reverse side is opposite in its colours... makes for a great peek-a-boo contrast :-)

  3. OH, that is a gorgeous throw! It looks perfect in your house. May I ask you where you found your pretty white pouff (I guess that's what it's called)? I love that!

  4. Allison.....I actually bought the white pouff on ebay, of all places :) Straight from Morocco! It was pretty inexpensive...around $90, I think. :)

  6. I almost bought that one too! I chose to split my card as a giveaway/review. I am going to buy a hand carved owl with mine!

Your throw looks cozy on the sofa! Now you can sit with your caramels, curled up on the sofa and watch the rain fall!
